How Do You Remove A Lancer Head Unit?
The lancer head unit is the system that controls the audio, navigation if it has been equipped, and the climate control system in the center console of the vehicle. When removing a lancer head unit, it is important to follow the following steps.
• Remove Cable:
Raise the Lancer’s hood and remove the grounding cable from the battery. The cable connects the negative battery terminal with the frame of the vehicle mainly to ground the electrical system. You then loosen the bolt that is on the cable with the wrench then lift it from the battery. You then set the cable and move to the interior of the Lancer.
• Remove Glove Compartment:
You should open the glove compartment and remove the two screws that are at the top corners of the compartment using a head screwdriver. Remove the panel from the dashboard that is above the glove compartment and set it aside.
• Remove the Panel:
You are supposed to remove the four screws that surround the stereo assembly with the screwdriver and remove the dash panel then set it aside. Remove the three screws from the climate- control panel found below the stereo using the screwdriver. Remove the panel and set it aside.
• Disconnect the Stereo:
Slide the stereo deck carefully from the stereo dock to avoid any breakage that may bring about unnecessary losses. Disconnect the stereo wiring connectors from the outlets that are found on the back of the stock stereo.
• Unplug Antenna:
You are then supposed to unplug the antenna cable from the FM antenna input that is on the lower-right corner of the stereo unit.
Conclusion:
The head unit may be removed for repairs or replacement purposes. You can have it removed using the same process used when removing a civic stereo by a professional who is a car audio technician or do it on your own as long as you do have the necessary tools for the process.
